Manchester United Manager Jose Mourinho Given More Time To Respond To FA Charge
Jose Mourinho now has until Wednesday at 6pm to respond to the charges, which come from comments he made to television cameras after United’s 3-2 comeback win against Newcastle at Old Trafford.
The original statement read: “It is alleged that his language at the end of the fixture, as captured by the broadcast footage, was abusive and/or insulting and/or improper.”
Mourinho will now be free to stand on the sidelines as the ‘Red Devils’ take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday as the deadline was originally Friday at 6pm.
The Manchester United manager had been under immense pressure ahead of the Newcastle fixture after a poor run of results, with several newspaper outlets claiming he would face the sack regardless of the final score.
When asked if he had responded to the FA’s charges, Mourinho replied: “Yes I did, but I don’t comment”, then, when questioned if he felt victimised by the charges, the Portuguese answered: “If I answer to your question I probably have another process, because I cannot imply bias, so my answer is no answer.”
