The 2017 MTV VMA is finally here and your favorite singers, bands and performers from all over the world are descending upon Los Angeles for what is sure to be an OMG-filled show.
PARIS Jackson has made a political statement at the MTV VMA.
Speaking on stage to present the first award, she took aim at race-fuelled violence in the United States.
“We must show these Nazi supremacist jerks in Charlottesville and all over the country that as a nation, with liberty as our slogan, we have zero tolerance for their violence, hatred and discrimination,” Jackson said to the VMAs crowd in Los Angeles.
Hosted by Katy Perry and The Weeknd, who tie for the second most amount of nominations this year, will hit the stage along with a few famous friends.
Additionally, 30 Seconds to Mars, Miley Cyrus, Shawn Mendes, Fifth Harmony and Lorde will be delighting the crowds with sure-to-be show-stopping performances. Ed Sheeran, who has been busy touring North America, will also perform a song off his chart-topping album.
Plus, all eyes are on Pink as she accepts the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.
But before any of this can happen, we must talk about the red carpet looks. From Lorde’s feathery frock to Cardi B‘s white ensemble and Demi Lovato‘s black lace number, tonight’s guest list is more than impressive.
Meantime, host Katy Perry’s bizarre space-themed opening monologue failed to impress, with celebs including Jack Antonoff and Ellen DeGeneres seen looking visibly bored.
Perry made an entrance dressed as an astronaut in a metallic silver space suit and suspended in the air.
“I gotta get out of this space suit,” Perry said as she stripped off to a nude bodysuit.
Humble rapper Kenrick Lamar opened the star-studded ceremony, with a medley of songs including Humble and Loyalty, and featuring a fire performer who was completely doused in flames.
Stars including Jackson — who is wearing Dior knickers and a sheer dress over the top, and a braless Demi Lovato turned heads on the blue carpet at the event known for pushing fashion’s boundaries.
The VMAs, of course, were where Lady Gaga wore her infamous meat dress and Rose McGowan sported a G-string — and not much else — under a see-through chain dress with then-boyfriend, Marilyn Manson.
The awards also marked the long-running feud between Swift and Kanye West, when he interrupted her acceptance speech for best female video in 2009.
Ironically, Swift will premiere the video for Look What You Made Me Do — widely speculated to be a dis track aimed at West — during the broadcast. MTV VMA LIVE..
